Severe disease or rare genetic trait Yes
Do you have a severe genetic disease or rare genetic trait? If so, you can add a description for your public profile. I have shovel shaped incisor teeth. This is presumably a trait that indicates I have Native American ancestry in the EDAR gene [1]. My mother claims that I have a Native American ancestor (Taino) 3-4 generations ago. I was born a raised in Puerto Rico, and can trace my ancestry back on the island for 8 generations. I think it would be very interesting to find out if I have this variant, and other variants in my genome that are specific to Taino acestry [2] 1: Kimura R, Yamaguchi T, Takeda M, Kondo O, Toma T, Haneji K, Hanihara T, Matsukusa H, Kawamura S, Maki K, Osawa M, Ishida H, Oota H. A common variation in EDAR is a genetic determinant of shovel-shaped incisors. Am J Hum Genet. 2009 Oct;85(4):528-35.
